Hospitality & Retail

Hospitality – Be the best

If you work in hospitality, we help you to focus on providing the best experience for your clients. Our easy-to-use EPIC portal system ensures your system is compliant with all current HSE regulations for Legionella and air compliance.

If you choose Rock Compliance, you also benefit from having a dedicated account manager, supporting you on every step along the road to compliance.

Retail – Quality counts

In retail, it is important to ensure the smooth running of your facility. Whether you operate a supermarket, warehouse, petrol station or shopping centre, minimal downtime is essential to delivering a quality service that your customers can rely on. When carrying out servicing and reactive works, our experienced engineers will always complete work as quickly and unobtrusively as possible, making it simple for your business to be compliant.

The retail sector employs around three million people; in fact, it’s the UK’s largest private sector employer. In 2022, goods worth over £400 billion were sold across all retailing sectors in Great Britain, so its importance to the economy is clear. Rock Compliance is here to identify any actions required to ensure compliance and to spend any money required in an effective way to reduce non-conformances. Over time, we can produce a year-on-year budget reduction and provide a successful partnership through a combined and efficient effort using the latest smart innovation.

Don’t get in hot water!

Water must be safe to use, whether that is down to temperature or freedom from bacteria. It is vital that the system is kept compliant to prevent any shutdowns due to Legionella. We work closely with the HSE, LCA and British Standards to ensure you have the up-to-date information and requirements to maintain the safe operation of your facility.

Supporting the retail and hospitality sectors

Rock Compliance can provide support with all your water and air compliance needs under one roof. We monitor and maintain many holiday parks, hotels, shopping malls, retail food/drink/funeral outlets, working with some of the largest stores in the UK. We provide sustainable solutions and take into account yearly budgets by providing year-on-year reductions in spending.

With our national coverage, we can provide quick callouts, so we are always there when you need us. We also use the latest technology – our bespoke EPIC portal system identifies the root cause of problems so we can work closely with you to reduce risk in a cost-effective way.

Hospitality & Retail Services Water Hygiene

Water hygiene

Water hygiene is a particular issue for hospitality sites that have multiple showers, swimming pools and spa pools/hot tubs, which can cause an increased count of Legionella bacteria if not monitored and maintained correctly. We support with advice from the HSE HSG 274, HSG 282, British Standards and the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG).

Following seasonal or operational shutdowns or whenever there has been reduced use, we can provide either a reactive disinfection or a drain-down of the system, complete with UKAS accredited sampling to satisfy the quality of the water on site. We work with you to control the levels of biofilm, Legionella pneumophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other dangerous waterborne bacteria.

Legionella risk assessments

All hospitality or retail buildings should have an up-to-date risk assessment, which helps to establish a current web-based live asset list. It also assists in ensuring all your water hygiene and treatment regimes are set up for success from the start.

Our live risk assessments allow assets to be added or removed during future alterations to the system.

Water monitoring and PPM checks

All your control measures must be met to ensure the safety of your end users, which as a building owner or operator is one of your obligations. From temperature monitoring to shower descales and TMV works in line with the D-08 guidance, Team Rock engineers can provide a wide range of services related to the ongoing management of risk in water systems.

Secondary disinfection

Routine treatment and processes are crucial in ensuring water systems remain safe. We have the in-house capability to offer a range of secondary disinfection options, including chlorine dioxide and silver copper ionisation. We work closely with you to determine the best option for your premises.

Water sampling

Routine sampling demonstrates the efficacy of your monitoring and maintenance systems, ensuring all your water systems are safe for the people that use them.

Rock Compliance offers water sampling for waterborne pathogens including pseudomonas aeruginosa and legionella. We then have experts on hand to work with you to analyse the data.

Remote monitoring

We can generate real time information on the temperatures throughout your building. Ascertain the risk from your system by monitoring the subordinate loops and ensuring temperatures above 50°C are being met, download the data for working water safety groups, and analyse the root cause and solution for your system.

Hospitality & Retail Services Air Hygiene

Air Hygiene

If you manage a hospitality or retail setting, it’s your responsibility to protect your staff and visitors. An air hygiene compliance plan from Rock Compliance helps you to achieve this as well as safeguarding against future unexpected cost and inconvenience.

Work with us to reduce non-conformances and produce low risk, compliant systems with minimised and predictable spend. We offer expert advice on compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act, BS9999:2017, TR/19 and BS EN 15780:2011 with routine compliance activities. Our wide experience of working in live environments means that disruption is always kept to a minimum.

With complex holiday park swimming pools and amenities, we see many air hygiene issues that need to be serviced and monitored for health and safety and insurance purposes.

Fire and smoke damper testing

Hospitality and retails premises may have complex HVAC duct systems that carry conditioned air throughout the building. Fire and smoke dampers in the ductwork prevent fire and smoke spreading and should be considered as vital as a functioning fire alarm.

It is essential that fire and smoke dampers are checked annually and crucial maintenance carried out immediately.

HEPA filter changes

High efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are often fitted in critical extract systems to prevent the spread of disease or dangerous pathogens. They work by trapping and destroying viruses to provide a safer environment.

HEPA filters must be checked and changed regularly to maintain environmental sterility and effective disinfection.

Particle counting

Particle counting provides contamination monitoring by counting and sizing the number of particles inside a space or in the ambient air, demonstrating the cleanliness level. It measures particles both in the air and on surfaces.

Kitchen extract cleans

Large hospitality kitchens are busy around the clock. Dust, grease and other contaminants can build up in the extract system, creating a fire and infection risk.

Rock Compliance engineers work with you to ensure extract systems are clean and safe, supporting the culture of customer and staff care in your hospitality buildings.

Ventilation system risk awareness training

Our Ventilation Risk Awareness training course is designed for managers, specifiers and persons responsible for health and safety and the general wellbeing of building users and occupants.

Course modules include the legislative requirements relating to:

  • General air handling and ventilation ductwork systems hygiene
  • Kitchen grease extract ductwork systems fire risk
  • Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) testing
