Studying, friends, parties, student loan applications, coffee, assignment deadlines, parties (again). Let’s face it, Legionella probably isn’t the first thing on a student’s mind as they prepare to move into halls of residence.

That’s why it’s your responsibility to ensure the hot and cold-water services in student accommodation are installed, monitored and maintained in accordance with HSE and statutory public health requirements, including Legionella testing.

Over the summer, university accommodation has probably been left unoccupied or with reduced occupancy. This can create the perfect breeding ground for Legionella and increase the risk of Legionnaires’ disease.
