Water Hygiene Engineer
Hello Chris!
I’m Chris Hodges, and I’m Head of Air at Rock Compliance. I head up a team of 16 Team Rock-ers, including engineers and office-based support staff.
When did you join Rock Compliance?
My background is in facilities management, and I have worked with some of the UK’s biggest FM providers. I joined the Rock Compliance Air division in 2020 as Business Development Manager but soon moved up to my current role, which covers Sales as well as Operations.
What are your plans for the Air Hygiene division?
As Head of Air, I’m taking the Air side of the business to even greater heights, developing and implementing the most efficient procedures and processes and growing the customer base.
What do you like most about your job?
I really enjoy the challenge of resolving any issues that are identified during a job, communicating with the team and the client to keep everything progressing smoothly, and delivering on our promise to make compliance simple. 99% compliant isn’t good enough – it has to be 100% or it isn’t compliant! – and the Air Hygiene team is absolutely committed to reaching that 100% mark for our clients 100% of the time.
Do you have a last comment for us?
Minimising risk, delivering compliance, and making it simple – the Air Hygiene team is flying high at doing all three!
Introduce yourself!
My name is Aqsa Hussain, Account Manager at Rock Compliance
How long have you been a Team Rock-er?
I’ve been with Rock Compliance for nearly a year.
Has Rock Compliance supported your career development?
Absolutely! I started with the company as a temp, before progressing to Account Manager. Being with Rock Compliance has allowed me to explore different avenues in such a short period of time. There is always something new to learn and discover within the company, and the opportunities and support from leadership for me to pursue this.
Tell us one thing you really like about your role.
The thing I enjoy most about my job is building relationships with people, whether that be my colleagues or the clients I work with.
Which Mr Men/Little Miss character best describes your work personality?
Little Miss Sunshine, as I always have a positive outlook!
How has Rock Compliance helped you in your career development?
Since joining Rock Compliance, I have felt highly valued and have been invested in to study externally to reach my career goals and develop my skills.
How do you define success?
Being part of a driven team that is always moving forward. This supports personal progression, too.
What advice would you give to recent new recruits?
As Rock Compliance grows, there are a multitude of exciting opportunities opening up. The company values the importance of developing careers and staff, so it’s worth taking advantage of everything on offer.
Which Mr Men/Little Miss character best describes your work personality?
Mr Greedy (due to my biscuit consumption!).
If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, so I could see how much fitness work and exercise he does in a day.
What were you like at ten years old?
Energetic, into playing any sport and also causing mischief wherever possible.
Introduce yourself!
I’m Rosie East, Head of Regional Business Development, and I'm delighted to be a part of the Rock Compliance team. My journey here began with a significant discussion about the company's employee-centric approach. Its value for and prioritisation of staff genuinely resonated with me. I was drawn to Rock Compliance’s inclusive Business Improvement Log, where every team member's voice is heard, reflecting a commitment to continual improvement.
How long have you been with us?
I embarked on this exciting adventure in March 2023. Upon joining, I immediately felt like part of the family.
How has Rock Compliance helped you in your career development?
With nearly a decade in the water industry under my belt, I've truly found my vocation in assisting clients to achieve compliance. Joining Rock Compliance has amplified my expertise and broadened my horizons. The motto, "minimising risk, delivering compliance, and making it simple" perfectly aligns with my own professional values and aspirations.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Working with Team Rock has been an absolute joy. I find immense satisfaction in nurturing the growth of our regional teams and collaborating with our incredible staff. Getting to know new clients, from factories to schools, keeps each day fresh and exciting.
What's a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know?
Beyond the realm of work, I have a genuine passion for animals. Zoos, farms, shows and even pet stores – I'm always eager to connect with our furry and feathered friends.
What advice would you give to new recruits?
I always give this advice to new engineers who join my team: be patient with your development and come with a good attitude and an honest work ethic, as these are attributes that cannot be taught. These, coupled with on-the-job training, are what makes a great water hygiene engineer.
If you could switch your job with anyone else within Rock Compliance, whose job would you want?
I don’t think I would want another role at the moment, as I really enjoy working closely with my engineering team and watching them develop.
Which Mr Men/Little Miss character best describes your work personality?
I put this to an office vote and received several responses, some of which I couldn’t possibly share! But I’d say I’m definitely Mr Happy
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
Jack Black would be a good fit. We share the same body type, and he is a very funny guy, just like me……I’m not modest at all!
Introduce yourself!
I’m Shannon, I’m 35 and I’m from Wiltshire. In my spare time, I do a lot of hiking, cycling and I play rugby for one of my local teams.
How long have you been with Rock Compliance?
I’ve been in the water industry for several years and have been with Rock Compliance since January 2022. I joined as a Water Hygiene Engineer, then I was approached by the risk assessment team to join them. I’m the only field-based female in the department, which is fantastic, as I have a great team and fit in well.
How has Rock Compliance helped you in your career development?
Since joining the company, I’ve completed many courses and gained certificates and qualifications.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love how the company supports you and is always willing to progress you, if you’re willing to graft and work hard.
What's a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know
A fun fact about me is that I’ve lost nearly 9 stone in body weight!
Which Mr Men/Little Miss character best describes your work personality?
My character would have to be a mixture of Little Miss Tiny as I’m 5ft 2” and Little Miss Tidy as I hate mess and disorganisation.
