LTHW/chilled water and process water systems

The aim of balancing and regulation is to apply a disciplined procedure of adjustment to water flow rates throughout a system to meet the requirements of the design. Carrying out water balancing, quality and flow in large commercial buildings helps to maintain operational efficiency and thus reduce plant running costs.

It’s also important for indoor comfort. Heating and chilled water circuits provide heating and cooling to the main air handlers and local space fan coils. If the water circuit is not balanced, hot and cold temperature spots may start occurring within your building. A pleasant, consistent temperature is important for any work environment and can increase staff satisfaction and productivity, so it is crucial that balancing and regulation is conducted to avoid any occurrences such as these.

Balancing and Regulatoin of LTHW Chilled Water and Process Water Systems
Supporting energy-efficiency

Identifying water pressure and flow rate drop is critical to having an energy-efficient plant, as inadequate water flow creates an energy-guzzling continual demand for heating and cooling from the main boilers, chillers and pumps.

The balancing of the water flow rates should be carried out to specified tolerances and in line with BG2-2010 Commissioning-water-systems, CIBSE Commissioning Code W: 2010 Water distribution systems
